VOCABULARY GOAL 1
EXPRESSION: Numbers, symbols and operators (such as + and -) grouped together that show the value of something.
VARIABLE: A symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like n or x.
PARENTHESIS: Parentheses or "round brackets" are the familiar ( ) symbols used in pairs to group things together.
EQUATION: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "="
SOLVE: A value we can put in place of a variable (such as x) that makes the equation true.
PATTERN: Things that are arranged following a rule or rules. Example: there is a pattern in these numbers: 2, 7, 12, 17, 22, ... they follow a rule "start at 2 and add 5 each time"

VOCABULARY DATA
DATA: Data is a collection of facts, such as numbers, words, measurements, observations or even just descriptions of things.
BAR GRAPH: A bar graph also called Bar Chart is a graphical display of data using bars of different heights.
TALLY CHART: a table with tally marks to show a valuable data set.
PICTOGRAPH: A Pictograph is a way of showing data using images.
FREQUENCY TABLE: Frequency is how often something occurs.
MEDIAN: The Median is the "middle" of a sorted list of numbers.
MODE: The mode is simply the number which appears most often.
RANGE: The Range is the difference between the lowest and highest values.
OUTCOME: An outcome is the result of a single trial of an experiment.
TREE DIAGRAM: a diagram that shows all the possible outcomes of an event.
SURVEY: Surveys are a method of gathering information from individuals.
